CDG to Paris transport options

RER B: The Budget Option

The RER B connects CDG to Paris in about 50 minutes for €11.45. Trains depart every 10-15 minutes from the underground station between Terminals 2 and 3. The advantage: it's the fastest option during rush hour when roads are jammed.

The downsides are real: no guaranteed air conditioning in summer, packed carriages during peak hours (especially between Gare du Nord and Châtelet), limited luggage space, and strike risks. Not recommended with children or more than 2 suitcases.

Roissybus: Comfort-Price Compromise

The Roissybus (€16, 60-75 minutes) connects all CDG terminals to Opéra Garnier. It's more comfortable than the RER with guaranteed seats and luggage space. Frequency: every 15-20 minutes.

The weakness: journey time varies wildly with traffic (up to 90 minutes in rush hour). And the Opéra stop isn't ideal for Left Bank hotels — you'll need the metro afterwards.

Taxi: Regulated Flat Rate

Since 2016, Paris taxis charge a flat rate from CDG: €56 to the Right Bank, €65 to the Left Bank. The journey takes 45-70 minutes. Only use taxis from the official airport queue — never touts.

Taxis only seat 3-4 passengers and boot space is often limited. For families or groups of 5+, a single taxi won't do. And note: the flat rate only applies to central Paris, not the suburbs.

Rideshare Apps (Uber, Bolt)

Rideshares cost €40-80 depending on time and demand (surge pricing). The advantage is app booking and cashless payment. Wait time is typically 5-15 minutes.

The limitations: no flight tracking (if your plane is delayed, you must rebook), variable vehicle quality, no child seats, and prices can surge in rush hour or bad weather (1.5× to 3×).

Private Transfer: The Premium Option

A private Mercedes V-Class transfer starts at €85 for 1-7 passengers. Your chauffeur meets you with a name board, tracks your flight in real time, helps with luggage, and drives you directly to your address. Guaranteed fixed price.

It's the most comfortable and predictable option: no price surprises, no connections, no dragging luggage. For families (free child seats), groups, and business travellers, it offers the best quality-comfort-value ratio.

Summary Comparison

In short: the RER B is cheapest but least comfortable. The Roissybus is a good middle ground for solo travellers. Taxis work for 1-2 people. Rideshares are flexible but unpredictable on price. Private transfers offer the best overall service for families and groups.

Our recommendation: if you're solo with hand luggage, the RER B will do. For 2+ people with suitcases, private transfer is unbeatable value. And if you arrive after 11 PM, it's the only comfortable option available.
