During your 2–3 hour visit you'll explore the Clos Normand flower garden, cross the iconic Japanese bridge over the water lily pond, and tour Monet's house with its distinctive pink facade — all covered in detail just below.

What to See at Monet's Garden in Giverny

The Fondation Claude Monet encompasses two distinct gardens and Monet's house. The Clos Normand — the main flower garden — bursts with colour from April through October, with climbing roses, nasturtiums and irises arranged in the combinations that Monet himself designed over decades.

From the Clos Normand, a short tunnel leads beneath the road to the Water Garden — the most photographed spot in all of Normandy. Here the famous Japanese bridge arches over the still water lily pond, its reflection shimmering below. Monet painted this view over 250 times, producing his iconic Water Lilies series now hanging in the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris.

Monet's house — with its distinctive pink and green facade — is open to visitors. Inside, the blue-tiled kitchen, the dining room with its yellow furniture, and Monet's bedroom recreate the domestic life of the Impressionist master. His extensive collection of Japanese woodblock prints lines the walls throughout. Just outside the foundation gates, the Museum of Impressionism Giverny hosts rotating exhibitions from American Impressionists who made pilgrimages to the village, drawn by Monet's presence.

How to Get to Giverny from Paris: Private Driver vs Train

Giverny lies 75 kilometres northwest of Paris in Normandy — a 1 hour 15 minute drive by private car. There is no direct train to Giverny. The public transport route requires a train from Gare Saint-Lazare to Vernon-Giverny station (50 minutes by SNCF), followed by a shuttle bus, bicycle hire or taxi for the remaining 7 kilometres to the village itself. The shuttle bus runs only during the garden's opening season (April to October) and operates on a fixed schedule — meaning you must coordinate your visit around the bus timetable and your return train booking.

With a KAR GO private driver, your Mercedes V-Class collects you directly from your Paris hotel at the time of your choice, drives you door-to-door to the entrance of the Fondation Claude Monet, and waits on-site while you explore for 2–3 hours. The return journey is equally flexible: leave when you are ready, not when the bus departs.

Why Choose a Private Driver to Giverny?

There's no direct train to Giverny — public transport requires a train to Vernon plus a shuttle bus. With your private driver, you travel door-to-door in air-conditioned comfort, with the flexibility to leave whenever you've had your fill of Monet's masterpiece gardens.
